Craghoppers ‘Hope’ Documentary Wins Award at the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival

With more than 175 films entered into the ‘Short Film’ category, Craghoppers’ ‘Hope’, which revisits the mountain gorillas at the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, nearly 47 years after Dian Fossey began her work in the region, was chosen top in the category.

Fossey Fund Statement on Virunga Park Chief Warden

The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund was dismayed to learn yesterday of an attack on Emmanuel de Merode, chief warden of Virunga Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Virunga is Africa’s oldest national park and is home to about one fourth of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, which are critically endangered and number fewer than 900 overall.

Sir David Attenborough Lends Voice to Charity Documentary

Wildlife broadcasting legend, Sir David Attenborough has recorded the voiceover for a new documentary charting the plight of the mountain gorillas in Rwanda. The short film, entitled Hope, goes behind the scenes at the Karisoke Research Center in Rwanda – 46 years after Dian Fossey began her pioneering conservation work with the mountain gorillas.

Gorilla Trades, Inc., donates $25,000 to the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund

Gorilla Trades Inc., announced today that it has become an official visionary sponsor of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International. Gorilla Trades, which is known for humorous commercials portraying their gorilla mascot as a master of the stock markets, has also made a $25,000 cash donation.

New Mobile Phone App Features Gorillas, Other Apes

The “apeAPP” mobile phone application has been launched by the Great Apes Survival Partnership (GRASP) to help users learn more about endangered gorillas, chimpanzees, orangutans and bonobos.
