Judith C. Harris
Judith C. Harris has been a community volunteer in her home city of San Diego, California, for the past 25 years. She has co-chaired successful capital campaigns for the Animal Welfare Complex Endowment, Scripps Memorial Hospital Cardiac Center, and the KPBS Telecommunication Center.
She presently chairs the San Diego Public Library Foundation, raising monies to support the library system and replace the 80-year old Central Library. She previously chaired the San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture, a mayoral appointment.
Her lifelong love of Africa and animals led to a meeting with the Fossey Fund in the summer of 2006 in Rwanda. Pre-existing charitable interest in Kenya requiring yearly return trips and a recent visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo served to further her commitment to the Fund’s mission.
