Ruth Musgrave

Ruth Musgrave founded the Center for Wildlife Law at the University of New Mexico (UNM) Institute of Public Law in 1990 to pursue an abiding commitment to wildlife conservation and raising awareness about wildlife law and policy.

Before founding the Center, Musgrave was a law clerk for the chief judge of the U.S. Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, an assistant U.S. attorney, and in private practice for over a decade.

She has taught wildlife law and biodiversity and the law at the UNM School of Law, trained wildlife professionals in natural resources law, co-authored the State Wildlife Laws Handbook and the Federal Wildlife and Related Laws Handbook, and edited the Wildlife Law News Quarterly and Weekly Alerts.
