Veronica Vecellio

Veronica Vecellio supervises mountain gorilla data collection and Rwanda National University students, and manages the long-term gorilla research databases. She previously taught environmental education in Rome and served as field assistant for the Zoological Society of London and ECOFAC for a gorilla conservation project in Gabon and for a gorilla habituation project for tourism in the Central African Republic; and as field assistant and camp manager for a bonobo research project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

A native of Rome, Italy, she earned a degree from the University of Rome in conservation of nature and other resources, with a dissertation on western lowland gorillas in the DRC.
