Elizabeth Smith, CFRE
Elizabeth “Beth” Smith is responsible for leading fundraising, marketing, public relations and communications. She has been involved with the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International since 1995, first as a fundraising consultant on a variety of projects before becoming its chief development officer in 2010.
She created Development Resources Unlimited in 1992 to provide nonprofits with temporary fundraising staffing solutions, development office management, and campaign planning and implementation for clients such as Emory University, Zoo Atlanta, Yerkes Regional Primate Center, and the Greater Atlanta Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Earlier, Smith worked with the fundraising consulting firm of Alexander Haas Martin and Partners, directing and managing capital and endowment campaigns throughout the United States.
She began her career at the Georgia Institute of Technology, responsible for programs within both the annual fund and capital campaign offices. She earned a master’s in business administration from Emory University’s Executive MBA program and a bachelor of chemical engineering from Georgia Tech with a certificate in psychology. She is an active community volunteer and has served in various leadership positions in the Greater Atlanta Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
