Fundraising Partners

Alternative Gifts International (AGI) is a non-profit organization which inspires support for humanitarian and environmental causes.  Through their catalog, “My Shopping List for the World”, AGI offers donors the option to designate gifts for these causes. AGI’s major foci in selecting projects are: the abolition of global poverty and the renewal of the planet's endangered environment. Since 2006, the Fossey Fund has had a relationship with Alternative Gifts International. As a result of being featured in their annual gift catalogs, we have received funding for projects in Rwanda and DRC related to gorilla protection and monitoring and ecosystem health.

Louisville Zoo, located in Louisville, KY has been a supporter of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International since 2001.  Containers are placed throughout the zoo which allow their patrons to help support the Fossey Fund.

Partners In Conservation is located at the Columbus Zoo in Powell, OH.  Partners In Conservation (PIC) was initiated in 1991 by staff and docents at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. This was started as a grass-roots project that would help conservation and humanitarian programs in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). PIC’s goals were to create holistic educational programs for children and adults that addressed wildlife and the needs of local people and to raise money to benefit both conservation and humanitarian projects.  They have helped fund various education projects since 1997.

St. Louis Zoo in St. Louis, MO has been associated with the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International since 1997 but in 2009 began to help fund the operating support for the Karisoke™ Research Center.  The St. Louis Zoo is celebrating its 100th year of operation in 2010.
