Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia (July 15, 2011) – Good World Games and The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International are excited to announce their partnership in MyConservationPark’s gorilla mission. It’s a fun, educational Facebook game that allows players to manage their own Gorilla Park while helping to save gorillas in the real world.
There’s an abundance of online social games right now, but how many social games are doing good for the world? Enter MyConservationPark, an innovative new social game with a planet-friendly aim.
In the Gorilla Park, your “hero” must be protected from an ever-growing number of human and environmental threats to the habitat. Conquer these challenges successfully and you will be rewarded with cash and karma. Enrich your hero’s habitat and balance the eco-system by buying native flora and fauna. Hire staff like rangers and veterinarians to defend your hero and keep the habitat sustainable. Good World Games donates 15% of player in-game purchases directly to The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International. Friends can visit each other’s parks to help protect and better each other’s conservation habitats.
Gregory Sukornyk, CEO of Good World Games, commented: “We are thrilled to partner with The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International, an organization that has been at the forefront of efforts to protect gorillas. The Fossey Fund has fought for decades against significant odds to push back on poaching of gorillas and habitat destruction. When players buy virtual goods with real money, they are funding Fossey Fund’s efforts in the real world.”
Clare Richardson, president and CEO of the Fossey Fund, added: "You can support gorillas too. Try MyConservationPark, the game that Grist.org hails as 'the Facebook game that’s actually good for something!' Start the Gorilla Park today and support the Fossey Fund’s conservation efforts by playing to protect. Visit the following link to start your own gorilla park: http://www.myconservationpark.com/fossey. You can make a difference for these majestic creatures!"
